On Windows 8..

So I guess the Microsoft guys blogged recently about a few concessions that they are going to make on the Windows 8 Metro / Start Menu debacle.

I installed Windows 8 on my existing LE1700 Tablet pc, and while it was smooth and ran well.. it was just no good with a pen  / mouse combo. I ran screaming back to 7 for now. The fact that you could re-enable the start menu via a simple tweak was comforting, but you lost the slick “metro” interface while doing so. One or the other. No choice.

Aside from gathering your market research from enterprise customers, why don’t you try gathering data in schools, or out on the street? Get the opinion of the average person, or even.. *gasp* -ask some digital artists about it!

This isn’t the time for pie charts, graphs, and enterprise surveys. It’s the time to lead with your heart, take risks and do something fluid and artistic. You’re capable of that Microsoft.. aren’t you?

Well.. I’ve been a Windows diehard from the very beginning. I’ll buy a Windows 8 tablet pc, oh I will.. but I’ll install Linux or OSX on it instead, if my beloved Start Menu is eliminated, or made very inconvenient to get to. Honestly Microsoft, what are you thinking?

Microsoft, you really need to listen to the people on this one.

Oh and please pay the inventor of Everything Search a bazillon dollars to use his tiny and efficient search engine in your products. (And please don’t make a knockoff either.) Your built in search just plain sucks eggs in comparison.
